When an opticianry student completes an accredited opticianry program, they are no longer considered a student, and therefore can no longer use the title student optician, nor can they provide opticianry services without registration with the COA.
In order to continue to provide opticianry services, the individual must register with the COA as a provisional optician. Once they receive their provisional permit, they can then provide services under supervision and register to write the NACOR licensing exam.
