Call for COA Council Appointments

In alignment with its strategic pillar of Effective Governance, the COA is currently recruiting registrant members in good standing for positions on Council and committees. As a profession that self-regulates for the purpose of protecting the public, it is essential that registered opticians act as leaders in their field and champions of self-regulation. The first-hand knowledge and insight of registered opticians of all professional levels is paramount to enhancing the COA’s regulatory and governance practices, and its strategic operations.

There are many ways for members to benefit from volunteering their time and expertise. Benefits include:

    • Paid per diem rates for meetings (teleconference, in-person, and strategic planning) as well as travel and accommodations. See rates on the COA’s Volunteer Opportunities webpage.
    • Council members also have their annual registration fees reimbursed for each year of their term.
    • Opportunity to provide direct insight, knowledge, and experience toward enhancing self-regulation and governance practices within the profession.
    • Depending on the specific position fulfilled, flexibility for registrants to participate in meetings either in-person or remotely to accommodate their individual circumstances.
