Calling all registrants in good standing!
The deadline to apply for paid volunteer positions on the COA’s Council and committees is just around the corner! Applications are to be submitted by April 30, 2025 (note: there will be a possibility of extension). All registrants in good standing are encouraged to apply!
Registrant participation on Council and committees is paramount to the effective governance and self-regulation of the opticianry profession in Alberta. With the recent transition to single-mandate health colleges and separation from professional associations implemented according to Bill 46, health-care regulation in Alberta is changing at a rapid pace. COA registrants can have a direct role in shaping the future of opticianry by contributing to important discussions, strategic planning, and decision-making.
Opticians who are new to Canada/Alberta, entry-level professionals, and opticians who reside in rural parts of Alberta have a unique opportunity to have their voices heard and to have them stand out. By volunteering on Council or committees, these groups – who are often underrepresented on board committees – can have a positive impact on the future and direction of opticianry in Alberta!
